ClubGG Rakeback Explained: How It Works and How Much You Can Get

USA Poker Clubs logoBy USA Poker Clubs Updated

ClubGG rakeback is money your club gives back to you from the rake you pay. Every pot you play has a small cut taken out, and clubs return a share of that cut to players, usually weekly. Clubs in our directory advertise rakeback ranges of about 25-70%, and for a regular player that can add up to real money.

ClubGG itself doesn't pay rakeback. Like deposits and cashouts, it's arranged by your club owner or agent and settled off the app. For the bigger picture, see our complete ClubGG guide.

What is rake?

Rake is the fee the house takes from each pot or tournament. In cash games it's typically a small percentage of the pot, often with a cap per hand. In Sit & Gos and tournaments it's built into the buy-in as an entry fee.

Rake is how clubs and unions make money. It pays for running the tables, support staff and the agents who bring players in. Rake structures vary by club and union, so check the table details if you want to know exactly what you're paying.

What is rakeback in poker clubs?

Rakeback is a percentage of the rake you generated that the club returns to you. If you paid rake into enough pots during the week, the club credits a share back.

In club poker, rakeback is one of the main ways clubs compete for players. It's especially valuable if you play a lot of hands, because rake adds up fast and a decent rakeback deal can turn a breakeven player into a small winner.

How clubs calculate and pay rakeback

The process is simple:

  1. The club tracks how much rake you generated over the week. Club owners can see this in their club tools.
  2. At the end of the week, the club multiplies your rake by your agreed rakeback percentage.
  3. Your agent pays it out, either as chips added to your balance or as part of your weekly settlement off the app.

Most clubs pay weekly, often on the same day they settle balances. Our guide to ClubGG deposits and cashouts explains how that settlement works.

Worked example

Say you play a few sessions of low-stakes PLO during the week and generate $400 in rake.

Rakeback rateRake generatedRakeback paid
25%$400$100
40%$400$160
55%$400$220
70%$400$280

At 40%, that's $160 back for the week. Over a month at that pace, it's roughly $640. The difference between 25% and 70% on the same volume is $180 a week, which is why the percentage is worth asking about.

Why rakeback ranges like 25-70% exist

You'll rarely see a single fixed number. Clubs quote a range because the rate you get depends on a few things:

  • Volume tiers. Players who generate more rake often qualify for a higher percentage.
  • Agent deals. Agents earn a share of the rake from players they bring in, and they decide how much of it to pass on. Two players in the same club can have different deals.
  • Game type. Some clubs set different rates for cash games and tournaments.
  • Promotions. Unions sometimes run rakeback incentives or bonuses for a limited time.

The bottom of the range is what a casual player might start at. The top is usually reserved for high-volume regulars.

Player rakeback vs club-owner rakeback

There are two levels of rakeback in club poker, and they're easy to mix up.

Player rakeback is what you get back as a player from your club or agent. That's the 25-70% range you see in our directory.

Club-owner rakeback is what a union pays a club owner from the rake generated by that owner's club. The owner keeps part of it and passes part of it down to agents and players. Owner rates are higher because the owner funds player rakeback out of it.

For example, the Massiv union publishes club-owner rakeback tiers:

Over 10k80%

Massiv also provides weekly itemized accounting for club owners. If you run or want to run a club, see our partnerships page and the guide to ClubGG unions.

Tips to maximize your rakeback

  • Ask before you play. Get your rate, the payment day and the payment method in writing in your chat with the agent.
  • Concentrate your volume. Spreading play across several clubs can keep you in the lowest tier everywhere. Playing more in one club can move you up.
  • Ask about tiers. If you're a regular, ask what volume gets you a better rate.
  • Check how it's paid. Cash and chips aren't the same if you're planning to cash out.
  • Track your own numbers. Note your weekly rake and rakeback so you can spot errors.
  • Don't chase rakeback. Playing more hands just to earn rakeback only works if you're playing well. Good bankroll management and game selection matter more.
  • Prioritize reliability. A high percentage means nothing if the club doesn't pay. Read our club reviews before committing.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is ClubGG rakeback?

ClubGG rakeback is a percentage of the rake you pay that your club or agent returns to you, usually once a week. It's a club deal settled off the app, not a feature ClubGG pays out itself.

How is rakeback calculated?

The club totals the rake you generated over the week and multiplies it by your rakeback percentage. For example, $400 in rake at 40% rakeback is $160 back to you.

What is a good rakeback percentage in poker clubs?

Clubs in our directory advertise player rakeback ranges of roughly 25-70%. Where you land in that range usually depends on your volume and the deal you agree with your agent.

When do ClubGG clubs pay rakeback?

Most clubs pay rakeback weekly, often on the same day they settle balances. Ask your agent for the exact day and whether it's paid in chips or cash.

Is rakeback worth choosing a club for?

It matters, especially if you play a lot, but it shouldn't be the only factor. A club that pays reliably with good games beats a club with a higher number that's slow to settle. See our guide to deposits and cashouts for safety checks.
