Online Poker in Florida: Where ClubGG Fits In
Online poker in Florida is not regulated: as of October 2026, there is no licensed real-money online poker site for Florida residents. That surprises a lot of players, because live poker is legal and easy to find in Florida, with card rooms at pari-mutuel facilities and big poker rooms at Seminole casinos. ClubGG club poker exists outside that licensed world, with no regulator and no player protection.
This is general information, not legal advice. Check current Florida law before playing for money.
Florida gambling law and online poker
Florida's legal poker comes in two forms, and both are live:
- Pari-mutuel card rooms. Licensed card rooms operate at pari-mutuel facilities.
- Seminole Tribe casinos. The Seminole Tribe runs casinos with poker rooms, including Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood and Seminole Hard Rock Tampa.
Online is a different story. The 2021 Seminole compact is the agreement most Floridians have heard about, and it did bring online sports betting to the state through Hard Rock Bet. But it covers sports betting, not online poker. As of October 2026, no online poker site is licensed in Florida.
Is ClubGG legal in Florida?
The ClubGG app itself is a free social game. Real-money club play, where agents settle chips with players off the app, is not licensed by Florida and has no regulator overseeing it. No federal law makes it a crime for an individual to play online poker, so the question for players comes down to state law. Our full guide on whether ClubGG is legal explains the federal background and how Florida compares.
Enforcement against unlicensed online gaming has typically targeted operators, not individual players, and several states have recently stepped up action against sweepstakes and unlicensed online gaming. Low enforcement risk is not the same thing as legal, and it does nothing to protect your money.
Live poker in Florida
If you live in South Florida or the Tampa Bay area, you're within reach of the poker rooms at the Seminole Hard Rock properties in Hollywood and Tampa. Beyond those, licensed pari-mutuel card rooms give many Florida players a local game.
So why do Florida players use ClubGG at all? A few common reasons:
- Distance. Not everyone lives near a card room, and Florida is a big state.
- Game selection. Online clubs spread PLO, PLO5 and other variants around the clock.
- Convenience. A session on your phone at 1 a.m. beats a drive to the casino.
Card room vs. online club
| Florida card room or Seminole casino | ClubGG club | |
|---|---|---|
| Licensed in Florida | Yes | No |
| Recourse if not paid | Yes | None |
| How you pay | Cash or chips at the cage | Off-app with an agent, methods vary by club |
| Hours | Room schedule | Many clubs run 24/7 |
| Games | What the room spreads | NLH, PLO, PLO5 and more, varies by club |
If you live near a licensed room, it is the safer option for serious money. Online clubs make the most sense for smaller, convenient sessions where losing access to a balance wouldn't hurt.
Playing ClubGG from Florida
How it works
ClubGG is a free poker app from the makers of GGPoker. You install the app, pick a club from our directory, and join using its Club ID. The app does not sell real-money chips or pay out cash.
In real-money clubs, you deal with an agent. You send money off the app, receive chips, and settle up, usually weekly. Payment methods vary by club and commonly include Venmo, Cash App, Zelle, PayPal, Apple Pay and crypto. Our deposit and cashout guide walks through the process.
Risks for Florida players
If you've played in a Florida card room, you're used to a licensed operation. Club poker is nothing like that. There is no regulator, no deposit insurance and no legal recourse if a club or agent doesn't pay. Your money sits with your agent between settlements.
Tips
- Start small, and request a small cashout early to make sure the club pays.
- Choose established unions with large player pools. Our best unions guide is a good place to compare.
- Keep records of every deposit, settlement and balance.
- Never share your login, and keep club poker money separate from your regular bankroll.
